We make it easy for low-income Koreatown residents struggling with substance use disorder to get treatment. Services are available in English, Korean, and Spanish.
The process of recovery is highly personal and occurs in many different ways. Your pathway may include clinical treatment, medications, a faith-based approach, peer support, family support, and self-care.
When you are ‘in recovery’, you are continually improving your wellness while learning to cope with setbacks that can naturally occur during the recovery process.

STEPS TO RECOVERY
Everybody has a different and unique journey to recovery, and it can often be overwhelming and confusing. If you want to know what to expect when you enter treatment with KYCC, here are some steps you might find helpful:
KYCC’s Recovery Services (RS) is an outpatient drug and alcohol treatment program in Koreatown. We integrate a harm reduction approach in treating Substance Use Disorders (SUD) to make treatment more accessible—we meet you where you are at in your recovery.
Our services are available even if you are not yet ready for abstinence. Our focus is on individualized care and building a plan that fits the individual’s needs and preferences toward successful long-term recovery.
We believe that connection to your community is an important step in recovery. We care about helping you rebuild family relations, make friends, and gain more independence.

What is substance Use Disorder (SUD)?
Substance use disorder (SUD) is a treatable mental disorder that affects a person’s brain and behavior, leading to their inability to control their use of substances like legal or illegal drugs, alcohol, or medications. Symptoms can be moderate to severe, with addiction being the most severe form of SUD. (From NIH website)

- Anyone struggling with drug and alcohol use
- If you recently lost your job due to drug and alcohol use
- If you’re struggling at school due to drug and alcohol use and want to do well in school
- If you’ve ended up in the Emergency Room because of drug and alcohol use
- If you have a severe mental illness

I’m not 100% sure if I want to or need to enter treatment. What should I do?
You don’t have to be 100% ready and committed to change your drug and alcohol use to start treatment. Part of treatment is to help you explore your options.

I have a friend/family member who’s struggling with SUD. How can I help them?
It is great that you want to help your family or friend recover from drug and alcohol use. You can start by referring them to this program by submitting a callback form on their behalf or calling us at (213) 365-7400 (Ext. 5517) and asking to be transferred to “Recovery Services” to talk to one of our staff on how to proceed. Please keep in mind that even though you may be making the first step, our counselor will need to speak with the individual directly to move forward with treatment.

Who is eligible for KYCC’s SUD treatment?
Services can be provided at no cost if you are eligible for Medi-Cal. There is no age restriction to enrolling in our treatment program.

Is treatment free?
Yes, treatment is free for Medi-Cal beneficiaries. Unfortunately, we do not accept other insurance at this time.

My primary language is not English, Korean, or Spanish. Can I still get treatment?
Yes, we can help you find a treatment program in your preferred language or use interpreter service.

My child got in trouble at school and is required to enroll in a program, but they are not an addict. What should I do?
We provide early intervention services specifically for youth who may be experimenting with drug and alcohol use. We would provide education for your child to make better decisions to prevent them from further use and from developing a substance use disorder.
