The State of Los Angeles Koreatown’s Landscape

Koreatown is an increasingly ethnically and demographically diverse community.

As one of the most densely populated areas in Los Angeles, Koreatown’s intense heat poses challenges, especially for vulnerable groups.

The aging infrastructure and scarcity of green areas highlight the pressing need for focused investments to improve public health and the residents’ quality of life.

Environmental services unit history

Since the 1980’s, KYCC’s Environmental Services has been collaborating with local partners to plant trees, install public art, and maintain green spaces.

We strive to make Koreatown a more vibrant and sustainable urban enclave where residents and visitors alike can thrive and enjoy the unique charm of our neighborhood.

Lend Your Expertise, Build Our Knowledge Base

We work with professors, schools, students, and neighborhood councils to build awareness and drive engagement about our urban environment.

Previously, we’ve worked with Wilshire Center – Koreatown, Greater Wilshire, Pico-Union, and Rampart Village neighborhood councils as well as USC Trees and LAUSD schools to expand education about urban forestry and beautification and promote a healthy tree canopy in our city.
