Types of volunteer work available to groups
Tree Planting
Koreatown has less than half the tree canopy cover in comparison to the rest of Los Angeles, and is among the least green parts of the city. Tree planting is one of our most popular volunteer activities! Host your own event and leave your mark on the community by planting a tree that will be growing and giving back for decades to come.Community Beautification
Every year, KYCC removes thousands of bags of trash from our neighborhood to improve the quality of life for our residents, keeping trash out of streets and oceans, while building a better, more beautiful Koreatown. Work with KYCC to identify a hot spot to beautify with your team at a date and time that works for you – you bring the people, and we’ll provide all the tools, supplies and logistics.Host a Toy Drive
Every year, our goal is to raise 1,000 toys for children in need in our community. Join KYCC by hosting a toy drive of your own and see the joy on our children’s faces at our Annual Holiday Carnival when they open your gift.Host a Food Drive
KYCC hosts a monthly grocery distribution serving hundreds of families in need of additional support. Collect nonperishables and pantry staples to help us ensure that everyone has access to the food they need.Host a Household Goods Drive
KYCC has opened hundreds of units for formerly unhoused individuals, elders and families. Help us collect household items (cleaners, toiletries, blankets, etc) to make sure our residents feel welcome and have all the basics to thrive in their new home.Guest Speaker for Youth
If you have a career, skill or passion that you’d like to share with our youth we’d love to hear from you. Guest speaking opportunities are available for one-time or short-term workshop series. Please note, these activities must align with our curriculum and are subject to availability.Host a Small Business Workshop
If you have expertise in a certain area that you’d like to share with our community we’d love to hear from you! From sharing about your career path in our afterschool programs to leading small business workshops or more, we’d love to find ways to share your knowledge with our participants.Pro Bono Services
At times KYCC is in need of those with time and specialized expertise in various fields to refine and accelerate projects. Past projects have included software consulting, organizational consulting and marketing and branding projects among others. Our needs vary year round, so if you’re interested in exploring options please contact us to discuss how we can potentially work together.Holiday Carnival (November-December)
Our Holiday Carnival is our most popular volunteer event of the year, engaging over 300 volunteers who do everything from gift wrapping, arts and crafts and running our games station. The carnival is not just a KYCC tradition, but an event that many families attend year after year – help us bring the holiday spirit by volunteering for one of our many roles. More event details are released in early November.Other
