- Youth Volunteer Opportunities
Every year, KYCC engages an average of 500 youth volunteers in support of our mission. Our youth contribute more hours to our community than any other age group.
From tree planting and tutoring to an array of leadership programs, we have options for one-day activities to opportunities that run for the entire school year.
We typically have 20+ volunteer opportunities for youth operating year round where you can learn new skills, meet new people, and build up your resume with real-world and hands-on experience.
You will be directed to our Volunteer Matters platform to learn more and sign up for each volunteer opportunity. Use the “Age” filter to view open “Youth” listings!
These are opportunities we offer our youth volunteers but are currently filled. Even if they are not available at this time, they may open at any moment, and we want to have you on our waitlist and notify you when they do!
Browse our waitlist volunteer opportunities, and fill out our Volunteer Interest form in the meantime. Our staff will put you on the waitlist or find an opportunity that best suits your interests and schedule.
If there are no open opportunities that interest you but you still want to be involved with KYCC, please fill out our Individual Volunteer Interest Form, and our staff will do our best to match you with an opportunity that best suits your interests and schedule.
You can always volunteer as a group! Whether it’s with a school club, your family, or your friends, you are welcome to create your own volunteer event, such as a food drive or tree planting. Read more about how group volunteering works and fill out our Group Volunteer Event Interest Form if you are ready to move forward.

Which volunteer opportunities are youth eligible for?
We have specific volunteer programs for youth. You can view the full listing on our Youth Volunteer page.
-
What is the minimum age to volunteer?
Each program and position has its own age requirements, but most youth volunteer positions require youth to be at least currently enrolled in high school. For youth below the age of 14, we generally recommend our environmental events. However, at these events anyone under the age of 14 years old must be accompanied by a supervising adult over the age of 18 at all times.
-
Do you give out Presidential Volunteer Service Awards (PVSA)?
Yes, KYCC is a registered Certifying Organization and we award our eligible volunteers based on PVSA criteria. To learn more about receiving your PVSA, please contact the KYCC staff in charge of your volunteer program.
-
Does this count towards service hour requirements at school?
Generally speaking, volunteering at KYCC will count towards service requirements in school. However, we urge everyone to double check before volunteering with us as requirements and criteria vary from school to school.
-
Do you offer youth internships?
The vast majority of KYCC internships are geared towards adults, but we do offer a small listing of youth internships here.
-
How do I get documentation of my service hours?
Community service verification letters are provided upon request to our volunteers at any time by the KYCC staff or program where you are currently a volunteer.
